Custom Chuck

This chuck was a 12 inch (12) jaw wedge key chuck that was used to hold (3) different sizes of tires. The biggest benefit this chuck has is the ability to chuck different sizes of bores varying .5 of an inch. With exact repeatability of each jaw on the internal wedge, the chuck repeated less than .0001.

Skill-Craft specializes in problem solving with over half a century of knowledge in workholding applications. Let Skill-Craft’s engineers provide you with a solution if you are having trouble with:

  • Constant maintenance of current chuck
  • Out of round finished products
  • High scrap rates
  • Non-conforming production parts
  • Chatter while machining
  • Long change over times
  • Poorly manufactured replacement tooling
  • Long lead times for chuck assemblies or other perishable items
  • Engineering Assurance

  • Skill-Craft has the latest CAD and CAE tools available.
  • CAD and CAE software's are an integral part to developing the best chuck for your application. This ensures you before the build that you will receive the safest, longest lasting chuck or workholding device available.
  • We determine jaw force, stress/strains due to loading, resultant jaw forces due to centrifugal force, and resultant stresses during machining, prior to build.
  • Let Skill-Craft provide you with a concept today!
  • Custom Chucks

We custom design workholding solutions to fully address the parts features and workholding application. Some companies create “custom” chucks by altering a standard item to “make it work”; Skill-Craft takes a systematic approach to design a chuck custom to you – custom to your application and custom to your part.
